User stephencolbert banned on Wikipedia

Stephen Colbert during his program The Colbert Report introduced the term ‘wikiality’ - the reality that exists if you make something up and enough people agree with you - it becomes reality. Stephen Colbert also modified the page on George Washington saying that he had the right to believe that Washington had no slaves. He also urged his audience to find the page on Elephants in Wikipedia and create an entry which stated that the population of elephants has nearly tripled in the past ten years (a fact that’s untrue). One of the Wikipedia administrators who actually watched the program immediately reverted the pages to their original state and banned the user stephencolbert from Wikipedia. The page on elephants is now protected and further editing cannot be done unless a request is made.
The folks are Wikipedia thought Stephen Colbert underestimated the power of Wikipedia’s vandalism control. Steve knows his audience too well (Hello geeks!) and probably did it because he knew the revertibility of the post as opposed to creating any vandalism.

Hatchet falls on Phil Ritchie

Posted by sujay on July 27th, 2006 — Posted in tv

Phil Ritchie does not believe that the world is a small place and that words from every interview he gives eventually lands on the Internet. Phil got booted from this week’s Rockstar: Supernova over the Bjork-wannabe Zayira because the band “does not trust his commitment”. So, what led Supernova to say this statement. He gave an interview sometime ago where he said that he did not really care for Supernova’s music and that his primary goal was to gain exposure for his band Lennex.
